Agro- and Biotechnology

Foreign students who are interested in Agro- and Biotechnology are more than welcome to join our trainee programme. Opt for your particular interests in one of our study programmes of Agrotechnology,  Animal Care, Agriculture or Green Management.  

You can choose between two types of traineeships: a traineeship of 30 days or one of 55 days. Both traineeships are done at one of the college's partners in the workfield: a company, institution or organisation in the field of agro- and biotechnology. The selection of the receiving organisation is made in consultation with the incoming student, the school and the partner. Evaluation of both traineeships is done by a comprehensive system of reports and oral evaluations.  

You can also opt to write a bachelor's thesis at Odisee.

Courses for exchange students

  • Traineeship in Flanders I (10 ECTS)

    We can offer you a traineeship at a Belgian company from our database, ranging from Agriculture, Green Management, Nutrition to Animal Care. We also maintain a close contact with renowned research institutions such as ILVO (Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research), INBO (Institute for Nature and Forest Research) etc. 

    > Traineeship in Flanders I (Spring semester)

  • Traineeship in Flanders II (26 ECTS)

    We can offer you a traineeship at a Belgian company from our database, ranging from Agriculture, Green Management, Nutrition to Animal Care. We also maintain a close contact with renowned research institutions such as ILVO (Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research), INBO (Institute for Nature and Forest Research) etc.

    > Traineeship in Flanders II (Autumn and/or Spring semester)

  • Bachelor's thesis (15 ECTS)

    Within our study area, we have established well-developed applied scientific research, which means that we can offer you a wide range of contemporary themes. In addition to our own research centre for Aquaculture (Aqua-ERF) we maintain good relationships with other research centres in order to meet your specific field of interest.

    > Bachelor's thesis (Autumn and/or Spring semester)

  • Geographic information system (3 ECTS)

    This course is in Dutch but can be followed by Erasmus students through self-study. Book and course material are in English. 

    • Remote sensing, earth observation, geodesy and other sources of geographical data. 
    • Coordinate systems and projections. 
    • Basic aspects of geographical information: raster, vector, metadata. 
    • Working with geographical data.
    • Attributing tables and classifications.

Credits

  • Number of European credits: 26 - 30.
  • These courses are open to Agro- and Biotechnology students. 
  • The courses consist of practice and observations, self-study and presentations.
  • Autumn or Spring semester.

The traineeship and bachelor's thesis will be organised at another location; they are, however, managed from our Campus Sint-Niklaas.
