Biomedical Laboratory Technology

In the following courses, you choose laboratory work because you want to join the research of diseases in humans, plants, or animals. The meticulous execution of laboratory research is the focal point of the programme. Each affiliated laboratory offers a wide range of laboratory tests and uses up-to-date instrumentation.

Courses for exchange students

  • Traineeship (15 or 20 ECTS)

    Students are taught by experienced technologists. They accurately prepare and execute analyses and experiments based on the principles of biomedical technology and integrate quality and safety. Students keep a diary of the executed assignments and write a biweekly report.

    > Traineeship short (study load 375h)

    > Traineeship long (study load 500h) 

  • Project work (15 or 20 ECTS)

    Students search literature on the field of study and create a portfolio about the research. During the project, students accurately perform the various steps of biomedical methods under supervision, taking a problem-solving approach. Students write a coherent and traceable report on the different experiments and give a presentation on the work carried out.

    > Project short (study load 375h)

    > Project long (study load 500h)

  • Traineeship + Project Work (30 ECTS)

    It is possible to combine the Traineeship short (15 ECTS) with the Project short (15 ECTS).

    This programme consists of 30 ECTS and lasts four months.

To apply for this exchange, follow the procedure as described on our page below.

Credits

  • Number of European credits: 15 or 20 (or 30 if you choose to combine a traineeship and project work).
  • These courses are open to Biomedical Laboratory Technology students. 
  • During the placement period students work five days a week. 
  • Autumn or spring semester.

Technology Campus Ghent

Students work in a lab of a university faculty, hospital, or company near the Odisee Technology Campus in Ghent from where the traineeship and projects will be managed.

Insurance

As a registered student, you are insured for the study-related activities at Odisee, with the civil liability policy and with the collective insurance for accidents, after intervention of the health insurance company.
