Exchange programmes

Chemistry

In this study programme students can opt for a research project in the field of food chemistry, instrumental analytical chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology or environmental sciences.

The following research competences are trained and evaluated: practical laboratory work, teamwork, written and/or oral scientific communication, and critical thinking.

Bachelor chemie header

Students can combine two or three of the following courses:

  • Research competences (5 ECTS)

    A small scientific research project with practical laboratory work and a written report of the experimental results.

  • Traineeship in Flanders (15 ECTS)

    You will be placed in a research laboratory or a company for 10 to 12 weeks. Depending on the place of the traineeship you can work on a research project or contribute to the daily work in the laboratory.

  • Bachelor's thesis (10 ECTS)

    You draw up a report on a specific research topic, including a theoretical part, an overview of methods and materials, and discussion of the experimental results. Next to the evaluation of the written report there is an oral presentation and defence for a jury. This course is frequently combined with the course units "Research competences" or "Traineeship in Flanders".

Credits

  • Number of European credits: 15-30.
  • These courses are open to students in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Chemistry, (Bio)chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
  • Five days a week of practical laboratory work.
  • Autumn and spring semester.

Technology Campus Ghent

The courses are implemented at the Odisee Technology Campus in Ghent or partial (traineeship) at a partner company of Odisee.

Insurance

As a registered student, you are insured for the study-related activities at Odisee, with the civil liability policy and with the collective insurance for accidents, after intervention of the health insurance company.
