This module consists of the following courses

  • Traineeship (21 ECTS)

    Students are doing a traineeship in a company or at the Odisee Technology Campus in Ghent. They take part in the activities of the company for a total of 13 weeks.

  • Bachelor Thesis (6 ECTS)

    This final thesis is often related to the traineeship. Usually, one or more topics are studied in detail.

  • Building automation - KNX Basic (3 ECTS)

    Coached study of the KNX basic course. Additional assignment considering the background of the student. In an open assignment creative programming of a life-like situation (the home automation house) and/or additional model cases and setups where residential, care, and general building management installations are the source of

    inspiration. (Building management system techniques, KNX BASIS, Installation, bus KNX, KNX bus topology, Line -mainline-Protocol KNX, system components, Bus participants, sensors, Actors, Programming in ETS5, Projecting Basic functions -Switching, dimming -Shutter heating, cooling -All off -Panic, Building management system techniques, IOT)

    > Building automation - KNX Basic

  • Project Work (3 ECTS)

    The subject is fixed in consultation with the student. The student receives several theoretical and/or practical assignments that needs to be performed. The results are accurately documented in a portfolio. On a regular basis, the student demonstrates the results to the lecturer. In addition, the portfolio will regularly be reviewed, and the necessary feedback will be given.

  • Building automation - KNX Advanced (4 ECTS)

    Coached study of the KNX Advanced course. Additional assignment taking into account the background of the student. In an open assignment creative programming of a life-like situation (the home automation house) and/or additional model cases and setups where residential, care and general building management installations form the source of inspiration. (Building management system techniques / KNX ADVANCED / telegram / Bus participants / Combinatorial Logic Priority functions / Bar functions / Set Flags / Installation protections / Hardware test / installation / Cabling / Commissioning / Projecting and commissioning of line couplers/Reading out the memory of a bus coupler DPT types / Continuous temperature control with KNX Copy across / projects / Test installation / Bus diagnosis/ Develop a practical project and put it into operation / Reporter reporting of relevant information / Energy logging and energy saving measures / Monitoring / HVAC / DALI / Weather station / IOT / Visualization / Diagnosis / Bus Monitor / Group Monitor).

Registration

To apply for registration, follow the procedure as described on our page.

Credits

  • Number of European credits: 30.
  • These courses are open to Energy Technology students or Electrical Engineering students.
  • The courses contain lectures and workshops. During the placement period students will work four days per week and attend lectures one day per week at Odisee.
  • Spring semester.
